Water Sanitation And Environmental Health

Hope Life International’s helps communities to build and maintain clean water systems and latrines. Both directly and through local organizations, We provides training and subsidizes construction, but communities make significant contributions both in cash and labor, and pay the cost of operation and maintenance.

The goal of these projects is to reduce the health risks of water-related diseases and to increase the earning potential of households by saving time otherwise spent fetching water. Projects also include educating people about good hygiene practice, which reduces the risk of illnesses.

Drinking unclean water leads to a number of life-threatening illnesses including diarrhea, malaria, typhoid, cholera, worms and parasites, and many others. Diarrhea caused by contaminated water is the leading cause of death in infants under the age of five.

In some villages, families must travel hours to find water, carrying it back in buckets. Others walk to public washing stations, which provide a public water supply that is neither filtered nor disinfected. Most run dry by the early afternoon.
To help end this sad reality, Hope Life will reach out to deliver clean water to surrounding communities.
